A wonderful woman

I met Val a million years ago. She had so many strengths. For me, possibly the most significant was how wonderful she was with small children. When we first met, she just had Bev but then we were both pregnant and she had Charlotte not long before i had Katy and then Oli. Val looked after them all. She was amazing, never looked frazzled, taught them, loved them, entertained them, took them out. I remember being thrilled the only time I heard her raise her voice to them - Val didnt shout like me, and the raised voice suggested she might be human!
The children loved her, so did my mother who enjoyed talking to her whenever she came to stay, and told her more about her past than she ever told me. We took the small children to Ringinglow and Foxhouse for picnics, and for walks in the woods.
Strengths: she had a style that meant she always looked good. So did her homes. She had a knack to making a house look good. When she had no money, she found bargains - i remember when my mother had just bought me a camel coat at vast expense, a big treat, and Val found a not dissimilar coat in a charity shop for £10 and had it cleaned and looked amazing.
She worked hard, walked miles, did her best, and was pretty good at making friends. Her least attractive trait? She ate so much more than me and never looked fatter - it wasn’t fair.. but she didnt gloat, she just was like that.
